Teams of volunteers have been collecting toys and other gifts for our Christmas Appeal and now we need your help to identify those children, vulnerable or elderly people who may not otherwise be getting a gift this Christmas.
The Pioneer Group believes that everyone deserves to experience the magic of Christmas, but we understand that 2020 has been the toughest of years and some families won’t be able to give their children or loved ones the Christmas they’d like to. That’s where our team of elves is stepping in to help.
Volunteers have been taking donations of toys and gifts to help those who might not otherwise be able to afford to put presents under the tree this Christmas, and those that do not have family or friends close by. The volunteers have been overwhelmed by the kindness of Castle Vale residents.
And now we need you to hear from you, so that everyone in Castle Vale will get something from Father Christmas this year.
Our appeal for your nominations doesn’t focus on children only, as we’d like to hear from you about vulnerable or elderly individuals who may be alone this year, and we’ll do our best to get a gift to them too.
The Pioneer Group’s Inclusion and Insight Officer, Becki Winkless, said:
We’re really limited around our Christmas in the community activities due to the lockdown, so we’ve decided to collect gifts and put together hampers to give out to those in need this Xmas.
We have a referral form, and you just need to tell us who would benefit from this initiative. The community has been amazing all year and we know that you’ll help again to make this Christmas as memorable as possible given the circumstances.
Volunteers have already received a number of toys, crafts, books and board games and more donations are being accepted at The Sanctuary until Monday 14th December.
They should be:
- New or good condition toys suitable for young people aged 0-16
- Books, craft sets, jigsaw puzzles or other gift sets for vulnerable older people
- Sweet treats, biscuits and other Christmas foods
